Alpha Delta Beta Omega Chapter History

Rooted in Sisterhood. Built on Service.

On May 25, 2020, at the height of a global pandemic, Monica “Mo” Grant Scott hosted a group of visionary women at her home (observing social distancing protocols) including Tracee-Ann James, Tiffiny Pippins, LaNekia Pruitt, and Stephanie Sloan, along with Arletta Bender-Doggett (via phone).
Together, they contemplated establishing a new graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in Henry County, Georgia. They discussed the potential benefits of expanding the organization’s services in their rapidly growing community given the substantial & projected continuous growth of the County.

A Vision Becomes a Movement.

This determined group of women informally organized and began the planning and preparation for an interest group application. Researching and working tirelessly the group’s visionaries (Bender, James, Pippins, Pruitt, and Scott) affectionately called “POP 5” grew the group significantly. The group formally sought approval to serve the communities of Henry County (nicknamed Southeast Metro) with a focus on McDonough, Hampton, and Locust Grove. On November 4, 2023, the Directorate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® approved the Southeast Metro Pearls of Purpose (“SMPOP”) as an official interest group.

Service in Action.

Over the next eighteen months, SMPOP continued to deliver impactful, intentional and identifiable service and strengthened their relationships with various community partners throughout Henry County. A few highlights of the group’s service include:
     • Becoming the 1st Divine Nine organization to host a voter education & registration drive during Henry County’s Geranium Festival
     • Becoming the 1st Divine Nine organization to certify members as a group through the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training
     • Hosting “Golden Bingo” for seniors in partnership with Henry County Senior Services
     • Impacting over 200 families by packing and distributing food
The group shattered its annual goal of 5,000 service hours and received public recognition at the City of Stockbridge’s Volunteer Appreciation gala, was
named the 2024 recipient of the Upward Development Corporation’s Community Partnership Award and was acknowledged by the Board of Commissioners during Women’s History Month.

Big Things Poppin’ - Charter Day.

On May 31, 2025, the Southeast Metro Pearls of Purpose Interest Group was chartered as the Alpha Delta Beta Omega Chapter by South Atlantic Regional Director, the Honorable Tiffany Moore Russell, Esq. With over 650 guests present, the 122 Charter Members of Alpha Delta Beta Omega made history as the largest chapter chartering in Alpha Kappa Alpha history.

The ladies of A∆ΒΩ are perfectly positioned to “keep things POPPIN’” and remain dedicated in providing impactful, intentional and identifiable service in Southeast Metro and to all mankind.
